My Experience: Gumtree Ireland

I'm sure most of you have heard of the website Gumtree? If you live in Ireland you probably have, and I learned only recently that there is a Gumtree site operating in many different countries around the world, even as far as South Africa! If you haven't, it's basically a website which allows you to post adverts and sell your items online for free. A great way to sell things you perhaps haven't used or something that's in really good condition, while also getting something for it!

I myself have used this website on many occasions over the past few years, both to sell and buy things. I've sold anything from DVDs to tickets and bought anything from furniture and tickets to musical equipment. I also have a friend who found their car on these second hand websites! I was recently browsing and discovered that there are Makeup Artists and Freelancers offering makeup training and 1 day courses. So if you interested in beauty, that might be something worth checking out! ;) Have a look here
If you're looking for a last minute Christmas gift, it may be worth checking out Gumtree* and you mightn't even have to travel too far!

Let me know if you've bought or sold anything on Gumtree before or if you've found any great bargains on it! I'm constantly on the look out for a good bargain! Who isn't?!

Christmas Gift Guide 2014

If you're wondering what to get your loved ones, there's still some time to do your shopping so rest assured! I've put together some gift ideas for those of you who are finding it difficult, or if you fancy treating yourself to something nice! I'm sure you've been good all year?! There is a mixture of some skincare and fashion pieces, something for makeup-lovers, something for your home and some bath treats too! These products are a selection of what I'm LOVING this season! I love everything here, and am planning on picking up some of what's featured here for myself!

Oasis Feather Black Dress €163

For me, this dress is a classic! If you were to buy this for your girlfriend, or for yourself, you're guaranteed to make a classic and elegant entrance into the party! This is quite pricey, but I could see someone wearing this again and again. It's a timeless, beautiful dress which combines lace and feathers, carrying you through from season to season.

Gold Love Bangle €19.50

I've been looking for a bangle or bracelet like this one for ages now. It's such a pretty classic gold bangle that could be worn anytime of the day or night. It's really affordable for €19.50 and if you present this to your friend, she'll love you for it!

REN Bath and Body Discovery Kit €18.95

This REN set is the ideal gift for anyone who is really into looking after their skin. This gift set would suit any skincare-lovers out there (your sister, best friend, Mum, Godmother, or your girlfriend) and it has a really nice selection of products for just €18.95. For someone who hasn't tried REN before, it's a great gift for them to trial out the brand. The products included are from their Moroccan Rose range and their new Invigorating Revivo-Tonic range. A real treat and it's very affordable!

Boohoo Distressed Ripped Jeans €34

I love these jeans and after spotting them on the Boohoo website I fell in love! I love the edgy look with the ripped-knees. I could see myself wearing these with an oversized white t-shirt, that gold bangle and the black shoes here. I think this look would look really nice! You could also make these jeans casual with just a nice pair of flats. These would be ideal to buy for yourself or for your friend.

The Body Shop Glazed Apple Bath Sprinkles €10.95

Glazed Apple is a really festive scent and one I love, especially this range from The Body Shop. This gift is really affordable and ideal for any teenager or friend. It would look so cute in your Christmas stocking or under the tree (or to add along with a larger gift). These are also a great way of adding a little bit of fun to your bath.

Boots 'Florence Anne' Candles €15

This range from Boots looks really great for the price point it's positioned at. This trio of candles would be a lovely gift for your Mum, Godmother, your Aunt or anyone who loves candles. They look much more expensive that €15 and would be a lovely addition to a larger gift or as a gift on it's own for your Secret Santa! This gift is ideal for someone who loves buying gifts for their home. The three scents are Blackcurrant and Fig, Grapefruit and Lime and Patchouli and Clove.

Boohoo Bodycon Dress €25

I think this dress, teamed with some jewellery would be lovely for any outing over the festive season! (How nice would these black shoes be with this dress also?!) It's really affordable and comes in black, cobalt blue or plum. If you are looking for a nice new dress for the party season, check this one out from Boohoo, or browse through their extensive range of party wear- you're guaranteed to find something to suit!

STEAMCREAM Star Gift €12.95

This little gift is so cute and tiny and would look great hanging on your Christmas tree or polking out of your Christmas stocking! I love these little cute gifts that many brands have done- a small generous 'sample' size if you wish, that is packaged so beautifully. For €12.95 you could pick up one of these for your skincare-loving friend and even one for yourself too! This is an award-winning natural skincare product, so for anyone who loves using natural skincare products, this is for them. They are also getting a present that doesn't even need to be wrapped up. BONUS! You can pick these up for your local Beauty Salon.

ASOS Heeled Sandles €60

These shoes. I just love these heels and would love them under the tree this year! If you're looking to treat yourself and get 'bang for your buck', look no further! For €60, these shoes would look great with so many different dresses, jeans, skirts, trousers- anything for that matter! I love the slightly thicker heel, which makes them easier to walk in too. As you can see I've already imagined teaming them up with both these jeans and dress from Boohoo!

Antipodes Skincare €16.63-€34.55

I've recently discovered this brand called Antipodes and I've been really impressed. If you're looking to try out some new skincare finds, that'll keep your skin hydrated this festive season, then I recommend these! These two smaller sets in the image are of their mini-travel sets and are a great way to try out more than one product. You can get a mini set with some hydrating day cream and a face oil. You can also get another one with your night cream and a night oil. I've also tried out their Hand and Body cream (which you can buy here), and it's brilliant. This dries so quickly into your hands, and is ideal for people who are always on the go! This tube would also last you for quite a while.

Urban Decay Black Magic Set €33

For anyone in your life who is interested in makeup, this eyeliner set is a really nice gift to give. This is also a gift set that would be suitable for any age group. You're getting their classic and brilliant 24/7 kohl liners in a range of colours (classic black, brown, purple, navy, khaki-green). Urban Decay is a brand that I love and I'd definitely recommend these eyeliners for those of you who love your makeup!

So, that's my Christmas Gift Guide for 2014 which I think has something for everyone, and all budgets. I hope you get some inspiration from this blogpost and that it has solved some issues you've had with wondering what to buy that special person!

Let me know if you're interested in buying anything from the Gift Guide! I'd be really interested to hear!

Current Shower Essentials!

Now that it's coming nearer and nearer to the colder Winter months, I've decided to slightly change up my shower essentials, or basically what I've been using in the shower on a regular basis.

KÉRASTASE Resistance Bain de Force Reinforcing Shampoo (Level 1-2) (RRP €16.58)

I bought this shampoo and conditioner set about 2 years ago and I've repurchased it on 2 or 3 occasions since. I decided to purchase this after 'ombre-ing' my hair. The hairdresser recommended these to help keep my hair in good condition and to provide it with the nourishment that the bleach removed. I was honestly slightly dubious, with the price of them, and that a cheaper drugstore alternative could do just as good. But after a few weeks of using this combination each time I washed my hair, I finally saw what people were talking about!! A combination of regular compliments on my hair, wondering if I had been to the hairdressers, and the difference I saw made me just love this combination! My colour (i.e. the bleach/blonde ends) really looked so vibrant after using this. It looks like it's been freshly coloured- just what you want!

I began using this duo each time I showered and then I began using it every other wash. So I would use a regular shampoo and conditioner set (my faves are Aussie's MEGA range or the Miracle Moist range and I also love TREsemmé) and then every other time I'd use these from Kérastase. My hair still looked as good and it is great condition!

KÉRASTASE Resistance Ciment Anti-Usure Treatment (Level 1-2) (RRP €19.50)

This condition is also a great double product. It can be used as your regular shampoo and condition duo (as above) or because of its thick, intense consistency, they also recommend using it as a hair-mask. It's super intense and rich that it doubles up as a great hair-mask. I'd leave this in my hair for a few hours if I could, during a nice pampering evening. Leaving it on overnight also works a treat!

The price for both these are quite high, compared to most drugstore shampoos and conditioners, but in my opinion it is really worth it. You can even get away with buying these and perhaps only using once a week and they'll last much longer. You will still see a huge difference. (I wish I had taken some pics of how my hair looked when I had regularly used this duo!) Even with regular use, I found that these both lasted an above-average time length. I only had to repurchase these approx. every 6 months (and longer when I cut down to using these less often). So you do get good value for your money. Another tip I have is to purchase these NOW (i.e. this time of year in your nearest Peter Mark) where they have a gift set made up in a lovely pretty box for the festive season. For approx. €34/€36 you get both of these (full size) AND a free 50ml of their Elixir hair oil. Ideal for a gift for a girlfriend or just even for yourself. You get to try these out and get a free hair oil too! Or I often purchase mine from FeelUnique where they regularly do Special Offers or discounts on both of these! So keep an eye on their website! (Did you know they also do FREE DELIVERY?!)

Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser (RRP €23.50)

I first bought Liz Earle after hearing so many people rave about it, and that's what I'm going to do here! I love this! Simple as!! (I've done a guest-post, detailed review on Anita's Beauty Blog here so have a look). Quick tip- I first bought a 100ml pump here from LizEarle.ie but since then I always restock when I'm in Boots in Liffey Valley. I think I've told you all this before- the Boots in Liffey Valley is AMAZING! It has so many brands that you can't buy in any other store in Ireland e.g. Liz Earle. It also has other fabulous brands like Sleek Makeup, Nails Inc. Philosophy skincare, Jack Wills, Dr. Jart, Instyler, Ojon, Urban Decay, This Works, Trilogy, Bumble and Bumble, bareMinerals etc. I could go on- I literally spend over an hour in that store!! Also if you're a Student like me- you can get 10% discount on ALL these brands and so much more with your Student Travel Card. You also can earn points on your Advantage Card- which means money back! DOUBLE BONUS!!!!

So if you can make a trip to Liffey Vally be sure to check it out when you're there or you can order online at LizEarle.ie. Around Christmas time they also do great offers of mid-sizes so you can try it out for less!

Gilette Venus Spa Breeze Razor (RRP €11.99)

Pretty standard, a razor that has a lovely scent. I went from using cheaper razors and have now used this for years and I would not go back! It is pretty expensive versus the disposable or cheaper razors, but for me it's worth it. I cannot stand sore, cut, or red under-arms or legs i.e. razor burns from the cheaper ones, and I haven't had that experience with this razor! Winner for me! This original pack comes with the razor and 2 'heads' for when you need to replace.

Soap and Glory Scrub your Nose in it!

I can't seem to find this exact face scrub in shops now as I have it a while but I think it's been relaunched and repackaged. But it's RRP was approx. €9, and I just love the fresh Menthol scent when I use it, and my skin feels great after using it! I feel less congestion and my skin feels really fresh and clean after I use this. I use this exfoliator once a week.

Nivea In-Shower Body Moisturiser Skin Conditioner (RRP €3.13)

This in-shower body moisturiser is so affordable and leaves your skin so supple and soft. I was unsure about how it would work but you simply apply it all over your body in the shower with a loofah and rinse it off. Get out of the shower or bath and gently pat your skin dry and your done. You don't need to apply a body moisturiser- you skin is so soft. It has a built in body moisturiser and it saves you lots of time- especially if you're in a rush in the mornings!

La Roche Posay Thermal Spring Water Spray (RRP €8.99)

This Thermal Water Spray from La Roche Posy has so many nourishing ingredients for your skin and I love to add this after I come out of the shower. When you leave a warm shower, it's a great way to refresh your skin with a quick spray of this. It also closes your pores and tones your skin. It can also be used after your makeup is removed- to tone your skin, or when you apply your makeup-to set it. A real multi-purpose product! You can buy this here.

Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia Body Moisturiser

I got this little beauty last Christmas in a gift set from Jo Malone. If you didn't know Jo Malone do lovely gift sets for Christmas with a few minis in each. A great gift for a loved one or for yourself, to try out the different scents. I regularly use this as my body moisturiser after the shower- so luxurious but worth it! The smell lingers on my clothes or what ever I wear that day. You don't need to even wear perfume if you like this scent enough- it's beautiful!

So, these are my current Shower Essentials that I'm currently loving using! Do you use any of these products? Are you interested in trying any of them particularly?

Let me know in the comments below what you like using in the shower or bath!

NEW: Urban Decay Collection

I've tried many different products from Urban Decay's collections over the years and the quality is fantastic! But after looking at this new collection, I realised I hadn't ever tried any of their mascaras before! I particularly love their Naked Palette and their 24/7 Gel Eyeliners. I've used both these products in nearly all of my makeup tutorials here on my blog.
Urban Decay¦ Perversion Mascara* €21/£17

BIGGER. BLACKER. BADDER. These three words describe this mascara in it's simplest form! This is a lengthening and volumising mascara and comes in a really dark black shade- exactly what I love! I often find it hard to take my makeup from day to night if I'm leaving work and going straight out to a party or an event. It's simple to apply some lipstick etc. which really helps, but you're mascara can get 'dry' and 'lacking in volume'. It's hard to try take your mascara off and apply some fresh mascara without removing your eyeshadow. It's also messy applying 'new', 'fresh' mascara over your old mascara because it often gets 'flaky' and half of it ends up either under your eye or on your cheek! This mascara saves the day! No matter how long since you've last applied mascara, Perversion will never get 'brittle' or 'clumpy'.

It's a lovely large headed brush which will give you optimal volume! It glides out of the tube so easily, and it's such a lovely formula. TOP TIP-**You should never move the mascara brush up and down in the tube as that lets air into the bottle and dries out the formula**.

Urban Decay¦ Subversion Lash Primer* €18/£15

THICKER. LONGER. STRONGER. Urban Decay use these three words to describe this lash primer. It claims to take your mascara to the 'next level' as it primes your lashes for the perfect application. I haven't tried this primer yet but it claims to make your lashes thicker, longer and stronger. Urban Decay also make a bold statement- "Once you experience how much more smoothly your mascara glides on, you won't be able to live without it!" I'd love to see if this is true so I'm going to be using both these at the same time. I'll be sure to let you know (Be sure to follow me on Instagram-SarahWhelehan).

Subversion adds weight to your lashes and gives your mascara something to hold on to, resulting in added length and thickness. Urban Decay describe this as a conditioning mask for your lashes.

Both these products are available in the UK and Ireland from Debenhams, House of Fraser, Selfridges Bermingham, John Lewis Cambridge stores and online at feelunique.com NOW!

MONDSS: Underarm Wear Review

I've been trying out these Underarm pads from MONDSS* for the last few weeks but unfortunately this review isn't going to be the most positive. MONDSS Underarm Wear is a new product to the market that is natural and adheres to the skin under your arms. They claim to provide a secure solution to underarm perspiration. No need to wear deodorant while wearing these and you can only get one use out of each piece.
MONDSS Underarm Wear claim that there product:
  • Adheres to your skin under your arm
  • Absorbs and prevents perspiration marks from getting onto your clothes
  • Locks in odour
  • Is comfortable to wear

So off I went and I applied these one morning. There are 10 'pieces' in the box and the RRP is €9.99. When I opened the box I discovered that they looked very like plasters!! But that didn't phase me at all, I had a quick look at the instructions (quick being the operative word) and peeled off the back and applied them.

Now, on my first encounter I did find it pretty tricky to apply them, it definitely takes practice. After I got it in place after a few attempts I was happy to leave it as it was. I suppose it's quite a strange thing to have under your arms and it does take some getting used to. It definitely feels 'strange' at the beginning, very strange. It feels like your have a thick 'plaster like patch' under your arm!! But after an hour or so I did forget I had them on.

Reflecting on what MONDSS claim about their product, I personally wouldn't go as far as saying they were very comfortable, and it does take some time to get used to them but I suppose with regular use you may get used to the feeling.

They also do adhere to your skin quite well. Once you place it down it's actually kind of tricky to move it about or fix it at all. I definitely recommend reading the instructions, much more than I did, i.e. much more than a quick glance! You need to practice how to put them on; which way they're best to go etc. I did find it easier the second time I applied them, so practice makes perfect.

I would definitely agree that it locks in odour, the whole day I had them on there was no odour escaping at all.
They also did prevent perspiration marks from getting on to my clothes too, and they recommend wearing them to an interview etc. No more sweat patches on your clothes! They do however kind of feel like a little nappy under your arm if that makes sense! When I actually showed a friend them on, she did say how they looked rather odd!

Unfortunately it was all going okay until I decided to remove them at the end of the day. It is advised to either peel them off yourself or use some baby oil in the shower to remove the small pieces. I decided to just peel them off myself but found this very hard to do. I didn't find them easy to peel off at all, and I ended up tugging my skin quite a bit. The skin is quite thin under your arms so it's wasn't the nicest feeling ever. After I got it off I was left with a red little rash on the outer liner where the patch was sticking to my skin. I think due to my sensitive skin, I reacted a little bit to the pulling off of the patch.

In the name of blogging, I decided to battle through and apply them again, a few days later. The application process wasn't too bad, as I said reading the instructions in great detail helps a lot! I had gotten used to the sensation of them being on but again when I tried to remove them, it wasn't the nicest experience ever. This time I tried removing them in the shower with water and eventually got them off. Not an easier task at all!! I was then left with some sticky pieces of where it was stuck to my arm and I had to go and remove it with baby oil. It took until the next day till all the tiny sticky bits came off my underarm area. Not a pleasant feeling, to be honest!

Overall I don't think after my reaction to the product that I'll be using these again but I have heard other people who've gotten on well with them. I think a lot of it could be to do with my highly-sensitive skin but to be honest they are not the most attractive looking either. I found myself conscious of lifting my arms in case people saw them through my shirt. I actually found that I couldn't wear strapless tops or t-shirts while wearing these as they are very obvious! Especially if you lift up your arms at all! Would you ever pick these up?

Let me know what you all think! Have you seen then in you nearest pharmacy yet?

Benefit Cosmetics Boutique: Dublin

I'm sure many of you will have seen or heard of Benefit's flagship store in Dublin on South William Street (2mins from Grafton St.). They have been open nearly a year now and things have never been better! I was in the store for a browse last week and a chat with the staff about the new collections that have just launched! I also have some secret information to share about their upcoming collections and events, so stay tuned for that! Lot's of Christmas-y-ness coming your way pretty soon! Here's how I got on!!

This beautiful pink retro bike was what greeted me as I walked through the door! The store is a girls dream. Everything is a beautiful shade of baby pastel pink. The pink and white colour combination fits right in with the 'girly' brand, that is Benefit Cosmetics. The lighting in the shop is amazing, full of natural light! This works so well for when you are trying on makeup and looking for shades to suit your skintone. Compared to your regular drugstore where it's full of artificial lighting! This picture has no filter on it, and it was taken right inside the door-which has a large glass window to let in all that light!

You can see from the picture above where some of the Christmas Gift Sets are stored. The displays are just so bang-on! So neatly laid out and easy to navigate around. The samples of the products out for you to try are great and are kept in good condition. Apart from selling the entire range of Benfit Cosmetics here they have also branched out and offer Spray Tans upstairs in a Tanning Room (Vita Liberate tan), Eyebrow Tinting, Waxing and Threading in their Brow-Bar at the back of the store. They also have a Blow-dry Bar (haircare), a Nail Bar and private waxing rooms upstairs too! You can also let the talented people at Benefit do your makeup professionally for you either! Your one stop shop!!
Here's a picture to show my excitement in store! On the left is a BB Cream they've launched a while back but it really interested me. I got to try it out and it really overs good coverage while being light-weight. It also has lots of moisture- a real 2 in 1 product. It comes in 6 shades so there is a shade suited to most people. How cute is this little merry-go-round stand it's on!? These are all testers so I got to test out the shades and when you go in, you can do just that!
These are just some of the Christmas Limited Edition Gift Sets Benefit are offering this season. I particularly like the look of this one on the left here, in the beautiful green tin! It costs €65, and offers you a discount of 38% (based on the RRP of what's inside the box, or rather tin!!). There is a full size They're Real mascara, Hoola Bronzer, a generous sample of the The Porefessional (a pore minimising cream for under foundation) and cute mini of their famous Benetint! Imagine what you could do with that tin after you've opened it? It could be used to store freshly cookies, sweeties or your favourite makeup on your dressing-table!

The other gift set on the left here called Goodies a Go-Go costs you €29.50 (a saving of 44%) WOW! Inside this are 4 longwear powder eyeshadows, Stay don't Stray eyeshadow primer (mini version) and another mini of They're Real masacra. Trust me, these eyeshadows are not any that'll be left behind and never used. These are 4 neutral shades so are so ideal for wearing anytime! Getting bang for your buck there!!
Here's one of their cabinets full of cosmetics and gift sets for Christmas! So many choices and suited to all budgets, no matter how big or small!!

Have you been to Benefit's Boutique in Dublin before? I'd really recommend going in to check it out and maybe sneaking a little purchase in too! You're worth it ;-)

Haul- SpaceNK, Clerys & Boots!

There were a few products that I had been eyeing up for quite a while now and I recently decided to pick them up while shopping in Dublin. I first landed in SpaceNK- if you read Beauty Blogs regularly, particularly Beauty Bloggers from the UK or USA I'm sure you've heard of SpaceNK. Well they have just opened their first Irish store on Grafton Street so if you're in Dublin City Centre, be sure to check it out! It's like cosmetic- heaven!! So many different brands of skincare products, bath, makeup, hair, fitness etc. and really good brands at that!! I couldn't help but smile when in the store, it was so overwhelming!! I was looking at one thing (Sarah Chapman products for example) and then spotted another favourite brand of mine (Aromatherapy Associates) and then another! It's so overwhelming! SpaceNK stock quite high-end brands and have a great selection in store. If you regularly shop online on FeelUnique.com for example, and purchase UK brands or other brands that you can't get in Ireland- more than likely SpaceNK have it. You can then smell, touch, sample the products before buying them aswell.

Emma Hardie Moringa Cleansing Balm- €44.50
This product was the main one that I've been wanting to buy for ages now! I've read so many reviews, I think the first could have been Fleur de Force and ever since, so many Bloggers have raved about it! I love the idea of a 'balm', for a richer, more moisturising consistency. My cult favourite cleanser is Liz Earle's Cleanse and Polish- which I've reviewed here on Anita's Beauty Blog (link) and I love using muslin cloths. So I decided to purchase this multi-purpose product! It was quite expensive for a cleanser, but I can really see this lasting quite a while.

While in SpaceNK (link here) Emma Hardie herself (the woman behind this product and brand) was in store so I sat next to her and asked her all about the product! It serves it's purpose as a Cleansing Balm for your face and neck but she also recommended leaving it on your skin overnight, as a hydrating mask that leaves your skin looking youthful! So I'll definitely be trying that out also. I'm actually doing quite a bit of travelling this month so I'll take some of this with me to keep my skin hydrated while flying! I had this product in my 'Basket' for nearly 6 months on FeelUnique, but when I got to smell and touch the product in store I WAS SOLD! The smell is just beautiful, so relaxing and a smell I would associate with a Spa-like experience- luxury! I can't wait to try it out!!

Aromatherapy Associates Essential Bath & Shower Oils- €30.00
About a year ago I tried my first Aromatherapy Associates product, which I purchased on FeelUnique.com. It was just a mini bottle of the 'Deep Relax' Bath & Shower Oil, which was a Christmas special in a little red star-shaped box. Again, I had read about this brand on so many blogs. If you read my blog regularly you'll know I love to relax and have a bath as often as I can, either using these bath oils or something from LUSH. I quickly used up this little mini and I've been wanting to buy more ever since! This product has also been in my 'Basket' on FeelUnique for quite a while but the fact that I could smell the other oils that come in this set, sold it to me! The other two oils that come in this trio-set are equally as nice and luxurious.

The three oils that come in this set are 'Relax Deep', 'De-Stress Mind' and 'Revive Morning'-something for everybody! You either pour 2 capfuls into your bath or all over your body in the shower.

Oribe Dry Texturizing Spray 75ml- €23.50
This was the final product I picked up in SpaceNK. I've tried so many different brands and bottles of 'Texturizing Sprays', 'Salt Sprays' and 'Volume-Boosting Sprays' but I've never found any to really work on my hair. I have thick hair so I've been looking for something that would be suitable for me and create that 'messy' or 'texturized' look. I explained my situation to one of the staff in store and she recommended this spray. She said it works in seconds, giving you volume, texture and oomph! Exactly what I'm looking for! A full size bottle of this is approx €50, but I wasn't so keen on buying a full-size bottle. I decided to opt for the mini, travel size bottle to trial it out and see how I get on. I'm looking forward to seeing if it lives up to the hype!

KORRES Vanilla & Amber Pear Soap- €7
I was in Clerys on O'Connell Street in Dublin also and spotted the KORRES stand. I have the Lip Butter in Guava for quite a while now and really like it. I wanted to try something else from the brand. Their soaps are really cute and make a really great present! This soap is packed with almond oil and made of 95.7% natural ingredients. It smells really delicious too- good enough to eat! It reminds me of the smell of blackberries, and a really summery-fresh scent!

Garnier Micellar Cleansing Water- €4.99
While shopping in Boots on Thursday I spotted this little beauty on Special Offer, reduced from €6.99 so I had to pick it up! This Micellar Water has been compared to Bioderma and has had rave reviews. If you read my blind trial of Micellar Waters you'll know I loved my experience of using these waters. It's suitable for sensitive skin and removes make-up, while cleansing and soothing your skin! No need for rinsing-just a cotton pad. These light waters are great and refreshing to use when it's hot outside! I find when I'm abroad and in a hot country, I don't wear makeup as often. I like to just put on some SPF during the day to keep my skin protected, and not wear any face makeup by the pool! So this is ideal to just cleanse my face in the evenings before heading out!

I hope you enjoyed seeing my little haul from a recent shopping trip which was so therapeutic! Let me know if you've tried any of these products before.

Mio¦ Fit Skin for Life Launch

If you've heard of the worldwide brand Mio, you may associate it with use during pregnancy (like their famous TummyRub Butter and Oil from the Mama Mio range) but they've now launched a new range- Fit Skin for Life which is designed for use (males and females) pre, during and post exercise. Here's a quick snapshot of some of the new products in the range.

Source- MioSkincare.eu

This range is designed to tone, buff and beautify the skin pre, during and post exercise. "Mio Skincare is a brand that offers a positive message to all users, which is to feel confident and gorgeous in your birthday suit"!! Who doesn't want to feel gorgeous and confidence in oneself?! Mio's Fit Skin for Life includes firmers, toners, mega-moisturisers, muscle motivators and soothers- everything you need to regain your former glory in your quest for strong, smooth, gorgeously fit skin from top to toe. Mio claim that every product is a bespoke personal fitness trainer for your skin!

'The Activist': Firming Active Body Oil* €34.95

This antioxidant body oil seals in vital moisture for strong and supple skin. The Activist contains nourishing Omegas, free-radical fighting antioxidants and vitality giving vitamins. Mio The Activist strengthens, moisturises and nourishes dry, stressed skin and has vitamins and antioxidants that restore elasticity and firmness, and also sinks in quickly! Over the years our skin's oil-producing cells begin to slow down, leading to the decline of its natural springiness and healthy radiance. Our skin needs extra helpings of strengthening superfoods to restore it to its formerly firm state.

Apply daily to shower damp skin to seal in extra moisture and a little goes a long way! To get the full benefits, use deep, upward strokes toward the heart-boosting circulation, improving lymphatic drainage and giving your skin more oxygen and nutrients.

'Workout Wonder': Invigorating Muscle Gel* €25.00

Think energy! This is basically an energy shot for your muscles, claims MioSkincare. Workout Wonder boosts you into action pre-workout and helps your recover quicker with an uplifting cocktail of herbs and plant extracts. A gym-bag essential! Workout Wonder energises, cools and revives muscles instantly and is ideal pre and post workout. It also eases muscle soreness and tension from daily life. It can also be used anytime- if you need an instant blast of revitalisation for your muscles. It boosts you into action so you can get the best from your workout and it helps with your recovery too. It, again, is quickly absorbed into the skin-ideal for use in the gym or at home (we are always on the run!).

Massage one or two pumps of this muscle gel into hard working legs and achy upper back, neck and shoulders. Perfect for pre or post workout or to ease tense stressed muscles, even from such daily activities like house-work, hoovering etc.

'Liquid Yoga': Restorative Bath Soak* €31.00

This restorative bath soak relaxes and calms your busy mind while relaxing your muscles and restoring your body. This milky-moisturising blend of essential oils, mineral salts and therapeutic herbs dissolves away stress and aches. It comes with a warning- may cause relaxation and happiness! Liquid Yoga is your personal masseuse in a bottle; helping with muscle fatigue while relaxing tight, stressed shoulders and muscles. It contains Murumuru Butter- making your skin feel as good as your mind!

Pour a good glug into a warm running bath and take some time for yourself. Why not make it a pampering evening- we all deserve one of these once a week! Stretch out your body and enjoy every minute of this precious time. **Liquid yoga contains Epsom Salts so you need to remember to SHAKE BEFORE USE**.

The Mio Fit Skin for Life range is available in:
  • Department stores including Arnotts and Debenhams, SpaceNK.
  • Pharmacies including Cara, Walshes, O'Neills, O'Connells, Faddens, Burkes, Old Bawn Pharmacy, Rathgar Pharmacy, Meaghers, Skerries Pharmacy, Maxwell Pharmacy, Bradley's, Tony Walsh.
  • Spas including The Marker Hotel, The Lyrath Hotel, Fota Island Spa, Millies Beauty Rooms, Orchard Day Spa, Dunboyne Castle, Faithlegg House Hotel, Druids Glen Spa, Seafield Golf & Spa, Revive etc.
I found it really interesting to find out about this range. I think people tend to forget (I know I did anyway) that we need to remember to look after our skin when exercising- it's not just the food we eat! We are putting our bodies through regimes and trials so we need to give it what it 'wants', i.e. good skincare and a healthy lifestyle!

If you enjoyed reading about this new range be sure to let me know! I'd love to hear your opinions on these types of blogposts- it's something a little different!

New: Eylure Launch New Collection

If you are like me, then you probably love wearing false eyelashes for any occasion! The ones I always wear are from a brand called Eylure and my personal favourites are the No. 107. These are the ones I always go back to and wear for a really nice delicate false lash effect, perfect for a night out! I just love the Eylure false lashes as I find them really easy to apply! For the most part you simply apply some glue to the lash strip, give it about 30 secs to get 'tacky' and then apply gently to your lashline. It does take some practice to get it right but, trust me it gets easier! I can now have mine, glued, applied on and blended into my own lashes with some mascara in a minute! Yes 1 minute!! It used to take me a few minutes but now it's become second nature to me!! If you really can't get the hang of it, Eylure have a range of eyelashes that are pre-glued-perfect for people who can't master it, or if you're in a rush! Anyway, if you want a step-by-step guide or some tips or advice on how to apply these, just let me know! Okay so, on to the new collection from Eylure!!

So just recently, Eylure have launched a 'new look' to their lashes. They've changed the packaging to bring about a more edgy feel to the brand and I really like it! Compared to their older packaging, which consisted of black and white, I personally love the bit of colour but let me know what you think. They have also launched some new lash designs to their collection and here is a selection of some of their cult lashes and some of the newbies, which were added to the collection!

Eylure No. 20 RRP €6.99 'Naturals'*
A gossamer fine, evenly balanced lash for light length and fullness.
These are ideal for beginners, a perfect way to start! Eylure recommend pairing these eyelashes with a nude eyeshadow for a 'I-haven't-even-tried' daytime look!

Eylure No. 100 RRP €6.99 'Volume'*
A classic, fully laden style, for an ample, regular lash look.
These are great for filling out your lashline and adding depth! Eylure recommend applying a slick of liquid eyeliner, and a flawless base for a chic party look.

Eylure No. 117 RRP €6.99 'Texture'*
A long, angled lash with a twisty, messed up finish.
These are great for adding a bit of texture and 'oomph' to your eye makeup look! These are ideal for regular wear while also ideal for an occasion, the perfect in between.

Eylure No. 120 RRP €6.99 'Definition'*
A super spikey style with teased tips, for a look filled with attitude.
I've worn these ones in the past also, really like these ones!

Eylure No. 140 RRP €6.99 'Exaggerate'*
A very full and sleek lash with an emphasis on the outer edge.
These lashes are by far the most extravagant! They would be ideal to wear on a big night out where you'd make a real statement! These would also be perfect for a fancy dress or at a festival!

Eylure Prolash Individuals RRP €7.99*
Knot free multi length lash flares, great for a customised look.
This pack has everything you need- some short length individual lashes, medium length and long length ones too! These individual lashes are there if you just want to apply a little volume and 'oomph' to the outer corner of your lashes or anywhere you like! Simple take them off with tweezers (it makes it much easier for the individual ones) and apply a little glue and then apply the lash to your own lashline.

If you want to get your hands on the newly designed collection, it's available NOW! Stockists include Sam McCauley Chemists, McCabes Pharmacy, Shaws Department Stores, Cara Pharmacy, Mulligans Pharmacy, Healthwise and independent pharmacies nationwide.

I'm really a big fan of the new collection, especially the packaging! Let me know what you think! I'm looking forward to trying out these lashes, I'll be sure to wear them next time I'm off to an event or on a night out! Or even the more natural ones more regularly! Be sure to tweet me any pictures of you if you buy them or even better-you wearing them!! I'd love to see that! Check out the website here for more information on the products and their new launches!

Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream: The Body Shop

I just received this Press Release which sees The Body Shop introduce a new BB Cream with purifying Tea Tree. Tea Tree Flawless BB Cream is a new BB Cream which comes in three shades: 01 Light, 02 Medium, 03 Dark and the RRP is €13.50 for a 40ml tube.

If you don't already know BB (Blemish Balm) Creams have been on the market for a couple of years now and are designed to hide blemishes while also providing nutrients or "good stuff" for your skin, e.g. moisture, SPF. They have a pigment and many people wear them daily as a substitute to their foundation, especially during the summer months as they tend to be lighter in consistency. But this product from The Body Shop is all of the above, and more! It's a BB cream, which hides blemishes or spots, provides coverage on your skin and also contains Tea Tree-something that is well known for treating spots (it's an active ingredient in many spot treatments).

So not only can you use this daily, in place of your foundation for coverage, you can be rested that it's going to fight against your spots! The Body Shop says you'll be left with "instantly spotless-looking skin with natural-looking shine-free coverage." This comes in 3 shades and as you can see from the images, shade 01 and 03 are quite extreme but I think a mixture of 01 and/or 02 will suit most Irish skin-tones. So I recommend going into your nearest Body Shop (check on their website to find your nearest store) and testing the 3 shades on your jawline to see which shade suits you best!

Left- Shade 01, Centre- Shade 02, Right- Shade 03.

These BB Creams are part of The Body Shop's Tea Tree Collection, which contain products such as a Cleanser/Exfoliator, Toner, Moisturier, Primer and Natural Tea Tree Oil, so if this product works for you be sure to check out the rest of their range. Or if you're interested in a solution to breakouts or any spots, check out this affordable range from The Body Shop.

I think the consistencies of these BB creams are great! They are nice and light, ideal for daily wear especially during the warmer months! I wouldn't be too fond of the smell of them though. They do have quite a Tea-Tree scent (as you would expect) but it's not a scent I like too much, that's my only critique. But I would recommend checking them out next time you're shopping and see what you think. I'd imagine the scent would wear away after you apply it, and I'm sure it's worth it if your blemishes or spots are reduced!

Let me know if you try it and what you think! Leave a comment or send me a tweet! If you don'l already know my contact details are as follows-

Beauty Tips #101

I have some interesting beauty tips that I've learned along the way and I was really interested to share them with you guys! So they may be some you already know, but others you may not know of so I hope you find them useful!

Source-Google Images
#1- Do you ever get that residue on your skin after you apply your face cream, be it day or night cream? Like there is some cream left over that just won't sink into your skin? When you rub your face does it come off on your fingers and nearly 'peel off'? There are a few reasons for this. Firstly it is probably because you have applied too much cream to your face, you should only use a peanut sized amount of cream for your entire face and neck. When you apply too much cream, it cannot sink into your skin and therefore lies on the top of your skin and when you rub your cheeks it's falls off, because the cream has dried in the air. So I really recommend using less of your creams! Less is more. You'll also notice your cream will last longer as you won't be wasting so much! Another reason, potentially is that your skin could be overloaded with products and it simply can't 'process' or absorb all your putting onto your skin, in such a short period, for example if you've applied cleanser, toner, a mask, a face serum and then your moisturiser! It can sometimes simply just be too much. I recommend only using a mask once to twice a week and ensuring you leave 5 mins (if you can at all) inbetween your cleanser, serum and finally your moisturiser, to try and let the products work to the best of their ability and to get down into your skin!

#2- Change your pillowcase, more often than your bed sheets. They say to change your bed sheets every 1-2 weeks, and I would also recommend changing your pillow case twice a week! Imagine, just for a moment, that more than likely at some point every day (if not most of the day) we all go outside. Our skin absorbs the dirt, oils and germs from the air around us (inside and out) as much as it does our favourite face cream! So while cleansing every night is so important to get all the dirt and impurities out of your skin, even if you've had no makeup on, so is changing your pillowcase! The germs often lie on our pillowcases and then we lie into bed, just after cleansing our faces and moisturising and go and lie on the pillowcase! It's really important to change your pillowcase more often than you probably are and throw the other one in the wash! Also remember your hair is also producing oils and is like a hoover for dust and germs and your hair lies on your pillowcase! (If you're very naughty and fall asleep with your makeup on- again another reason to get a new pillowcase!) So right now, after reading this, why not go to your room and change your pillowcase!? Your skin will thank you for it!

#3- Apply your concealer after your foundation. The purpose of concealer is to conceal or hide any blemishes or redness or darkness, whichever the case may be, and foundation is to even out your complexion or skin tone. So that's why you should firstly apply your foundation, and even out your skin tone and then apply your concealer (if you need it). After you apply your foundation you may just realise that you need very little concealer (if any). This is when you then apply your concealer to the areas that you feel need it. If you apply your concealer first, you're then applying foundation over it, and your foundation could have done that job! Some foundations do actually hide blemishes or redness also and you may be wasting your concealer (definitely some) by applying it before your foundation! Again-your concealer will last longer!

So that's it for today's Beauty Tips! If you'd like to hear more of my beauty tips, let me know in the comments below and I'd definitely be interested in telling you more of my beauty tips that I've gathered and learned along the way!

If you've any interesting beauty tips, feel free to share them down below in the comments also!

Makeup this April!

This April in Ireland we've been having rather nice weather. We've had more than our average bit of sunshine, which has led me to re-organise my makeup bag and start bringing out my Spring/Summer makeup essentials! I like to keep things natural and fresh looking, especially at this time when it's not quite summer just yet! So here are the makeup products I've been loving using this April, in fact I think I've used them everyday!! The only thing I do like to switch up is my lip product (on to that in a minute!).

Face:
  • First up is moisturiser. I've picked up a new moisturiser for daytime and currently am loving using it! It's by Nivea (Daily Essentials) and it's their Light Moisturising Day Cream with SPF 15. If you have read my blog before you'll know how often I emphasise wearing an SPF on your face and this moisturiser is just what I've been looking for lately. Nice and light, soaks in really quickly and smells good too! Lately I've been loving keeping my heavier, richer creams/serums for night-time and I like to use this lighter moisturiser in the day.
  • After about 10 mins I apply my GOSH Velvet Touch Primer with my fingers. But honestly, on some days I do skip this step and just move on to my eye makeup.

                                                                          Eyes:

  • I give my moisturiser and or primer some time so absorb into my skin and while I'm waiting I move on to my eye makeup. I'll first start off by applying some of Urban Decay's Primer Potion. I then curl my eyelashes using my No7 curlers.
  • As I said I like to keep things fresh and light this season so all I like to use on my eyes are 2 eyeshadows- MAC's Corduroy Matte eyeshadow all over my lid, blended with my MAC 217 and then some of MAC's Mulch Velvet eyeshadow in the crease to smoke it out a little. These two shadows work really well together.
  • Sometimes if I'm feeling a bit wild, I'll add some of the creamy glitter to the inner corner of my eye. This one is from Wet'n'Wild and is called Spiked. As usual I'll apply some liquid liner to my eyelids- I'm still loving Rimmel's Exaggerate liquid liner. Just before I finish up I am using my Essence Chubby Eyeliner (the black end) on my waterline and tightline, for some definition.
  • And to finish up, I apply mascara-I'm still using YSL's Babydoll Mascara* in Black.

                                                                            Face:

  • I then come back to my face and apply my foundation. I've either been using my NARS Sheer Glow (Deauville) or a sample of MAC's Studio Sculpt (NW15) that I picked up last time I was in MAC. (I don't think I'm too keen on the MAC foundation- I much prefer my NARS one!) I'm still using my Real Techniques Expert face brush to apply my foundation.
  • After my foundation I apply a little corrector under my eyes and this month I've been trying out Shiseido's Sheer Eye Zone Corrector* (103) to compact any redness or darkness.
  • For highlight, I apply some of No7's Skin Illuminator (shade Peach) to my forehead, the tops of my cheekbones and down my nose, for a nice spring glow. I add to that by using a little of MAC's Cream Colour Base in Hush to my cheeks also, using the Real Techniques Stipple brush for both.
  • For a quick contour and to bronze things up, as usual I apply MAC's Give me Sun Bronzer using my blush brush from Real Techniques.

Eyebrows:

  • To finish off I like to fill in my eyebrows using one simple product from Avon and it's their eyeshadow palette called Little Red Dress/Hollywood. I use the matte brown colour and finish off with some clear brow gel to set them in place. Mine is from Collection (formally Collection 2000) and I'm in need of a new one!

Lips:
  • To keep in tune with the fresh look, I'll either keep my lips au natural, with just some lip balm or apply a new favourite of mine and that is YSL's Baby Doll Kiss and Blush. It comes in a bottle similar to nail varnish but it's a creamy, matte-look product that can be used on your lips or your cheeks. I have the shade no.7 Coral Affranchi*. Here's a picture of me wearing it!

Here is a picture of the finished look when I'm not wearing any lip colour, just a small bit of lip balm! It's as simple as that! I like to mix drugstore and high-end makeup but it's so easy to recreate. I love keeping my makeup nice and fresh for spring! Tweet me a picture of what your current makeup favourites and be sure to follow me on Twitter (@SarahWhelehan)!

Lush Valentine's Day Collection 2014

This years Valentine's Collection from LUSH does not disappoint! It is such a cute collection and well worth having a look at and perhaps buying something for a loved one or for yourself. Here's a look at all the products from this years collection.

Love Locket Bath Bomb(£6.95/€8.95)

"The Love Locket was inspired by the kind of heart-shaped locket you wear as a necklace, perhaps with a secret photograph of a loved one inside. In the same way, you have to unlock (crack open) this Love Locket bath bomb to reveal the secrets hidden within."
This bath bomb is a real feature in this collection. It smells beautiful and sweet and its' ingredients include jasmine, vanilla and Neroli Oil (citrus/orange scent). It is pricey for a bath bomb, but considering there is another bath bomb inside, you could get 2 baths out of it! Want to see what's inside?

Tender is the Night Massage Bar (£6.50/€8.50)

"A sensual massage bar filled with romantic essential oils. Shea and murumuru butters are specially blended to melt easily onto the skin to allow a smooth massage. As well as helping the bar glide, they also help to lock in moisture. As the bar warms and softens, it releases the heady blend of ylang ylang oil, Fair Trade vanilla absolute, and jasmine absolute that settle onto the skin."
As with all massage bars from LUSH, you apply Tender is the Night on dry/damp skin when you're just out of the bath or shower. The massage bar melts due to the heat of your skin and then simply rub the oils into your skin. These massage bars are a great alternative to a body moisturiser and are very practical for travelling. This massage bar will also be joining the all-year round range.

Close to You Massage Bar (£5.50/€6.95)

"This smooshable massage bar is beautifully fragranced with Fair Trade vanilla absolute. Inspired by the humble Jammie Dodger biscuit- as you peek through the heart shaped hole on top of the bar you can see into the sumptuous white fondant centre."
This is one of my favourites from the range and I haven't even used it yet! I just love the smell! Simple as that! This little pink and white massage bar is so cute and adorable. In case you were wondering what the smell reminds you of, this massage bar has the same scent as Rock Star soap, Creamy Candy bubble bar and is incredibly like the Bubblegum lip scrub! Yum Yum! I'm looking forward to smelling of candy and bubblegum!

Neon Love Soap (£4.25/€5.50/100g)

"This is a unique soap with an uplifting, fruity fragrance. Bergamot and rosewood work together to create a rich scent, whilst fresh figs, passion fruit juice and soya yoghurt nourish and soften the skin."

Prince Charming Shower Gel (£4.65/€6.25/100g)

"With marshmallow root, Fair Trade vanilla and fresh pomegranate juice, Prince Charming will sweep you off your feet and carry you off into the sunset, leaving your skin silky soft and smelling lovely- the fragrance is made using a beautiful blend of grapefruit, sandalwood and geranium oils."
You can buy this shower gel in a small 100g bottle or 250g (£9.25/€12.50) or a 500g bottle also (£15.95/€20.95).

The Kiss tinted Lip Balm (£5.75/€7.20)

"A delightful, whipped up gloss made from luxurious and protective butters include Fair Trade shea and capuaça. This preservative free tinted lip gloss gives a touch of colour to the lips. It's so easy to apply you won't even need a mirror!"
This light tinted lip balm is created using the same aerating technique as their massage bars. It also provides moisture and a glossy pink sheen to your lips. The colour is quite sheer but it would be ideal for wearing everyday.

Neon Love Gift Box (£17.95/€23.50)

"A mixture of products that will ensure your Valentine's Day is filled with romance, excitement and plenty of Fun...Why not create a secret message with your Fun and leave it in you bathroom for your lover to discover?"
I love these gift boxes in these collections from LUSH! They do their gift boxes really well and are an ideal present for a loved one or for yourself! They come in this amazing recycled wrapping paper and are so cute! They are also filled with goodies and it works out better value than buying the individual products. Inside this box you have Neon Love soap, Red FUN, Turkish Delight shower smoothie and the From Dusk Til Dawn massage bar.

Lots of Love Gift Box (£26.50/€33.95)

"We've created the perfect gift to spoil the one you love, with five limited edition products for a luxurious Valentine's Day treat. This gift was inspired by the heart-shaped Neon Love soap you'll find hidden inside. The message is simple, heartfelt, and reiterated by the luxurious, sweet and floral scented products inside."
Again this gift box doesn't disappoint and is filled with some really great products. It contains Neon Love soap, Sex Bomb bath bomb, Prince Charming shower gel, Ro's Argan Body Conditioner (which is an in shower moisturiser-great if you're in a rush) and the Tender Is The Night massage bar.

The entire LUSH Valentine's Day collection is available at www.lush.co.uk, which now ship worldwide (including Ireland) or you can pop in to your nearest LUSH store. (In case you Irish girls didn't know, there are two LUSH stores in Dublin's City Centre-one on Henry Street and one on Grafton Street!) And just to note the Valentine's Collection is now in stores and will be stocked in stores until March, so do get in to your local store if you can and check it out. You won't be disappointed!
