Beauty Tips #101

I have some interesting beauty tips that I've learned along the way and I was really interested to share them with you guys! So they may be some you already know, but others you may not know of so I hope you find them useful!

#1- Do you ever get that residue on your skin after you apply your face cream, be it day or night cream? Like there is some cream left over that just won't sink into your skin? When you rub your face does it come off on your fingers and nearly 'peel off'? There are a few reasons for this. Firstly it is probably because you have applied too much cream to your face, you should only use a peanut sized amount of cream for your entire face and neck. When you apply too much cream, it cannot sink into your skin and therefore lies on the top of your skin and when you rub your cheeks it's falls off, because the cream has dried in the air. So I really recommend using less of your creams! Less is more. You'll also notice your cream will last longer as you won't be wasting so much! Another reason, potentially is that your skin could be overloaded with products and it simply can't 'process' or absorb all your putting onto your skin, in such a short period, for example if you've applied cleanser, toner, a mask, a face serum and then your moisturiser! It can sometimes simply just be too much. I recommend only using a mask once to twice a week and ensuring you leave 5 mins (if you can at all) inbetween your cleanser, serum and finally your moisturiser, to try and let the products work to the best of their ability and to get down into your skin!

#2- Change your pillowcase, more often than your bed sheets. They say to change your bed sheets every 1-2 weeks, and I would also recommend changing your pillow case twice a week! Imagine, just for a moment, that more than likely at some point every day (if not most of the day) we all go outside. Our skin absorbs the dirt, oils and germs from the air around us (inside and out) as much as it does our favourite face cream! So while cleansing every night is so important to get all the dirt and impurities out of your skin, even if you've had no makeup on, so is changing your pillowcase! The germs often lie on our pillowcases and then we lie into bed, just after cleansing our faces and moisturising and go and lie on the pillowcase! It's really important to change your pillowcase more often than you probably are and throw the other one in the wash! Also remember your hair is also producing oils and is like a hoover for dust and germs and your hair lies on your pillowcase! (If you're very naughty and fall asleep with your makeup on- again another reason to get a new pillowcase!) So right now, after reading this, why not go to your room and change your pillowcase!? Your skin will thank you for it!

#3- Apply your concealer after your foundation. The purpose of concealer is to conceal or hide any blemishes or redness or darkness, whichever the case may be, and foundation is to even out your complexion or skin tone. So that's why you should firstly apply your foundation, and even out your skin tone and then apply your concealer (if you need it). After you apply your foundation you may just realise that you need very little concealer (if any). This is when you then apply your concealer to the areas that you feel need it. If you apply your concealer first, you're then applying foundation over it, and your foundation could have done that job! Some foundations do actually hide blemishes or redness also and you may be wasting your concealer (definitely some) by applying it before your foundation! Again-your concealer will last longer!

  1. Great post. I've heard that about the pillowcase tip before makes so much sense when you think about it but before I was told I never thought about it.
